Songs of Sister Act tour encourages fancy dress
The Songs of Sister Act tour is currently making its way across Britain, performing favourite numbers from the 1992 Whoopi Goldberg film.
Songs of Sister Act features the London Community Gospel Choir and former X-factor finalist Rowetta Satchell. Musical numbers that will be performed include 'Oh Happy Day', 'Joyful Joyful' and 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'.
In addition to performing exciting tunes from Sister Act, the show encourages audience members to don fancy dress and dance in the aisles. As a result, viewers are likely to attend the show wearing nun costumes and other church-related garb in the spirit of Sister Act.
Having started its tour in Croydon and performed various London dates in April, Songs of Sister Act continues its tour in May playing in major cities including Birmingham, Manchester, Sunderland, York, Glasgow, Liverpool and Oxford.
The London Community Gospel Choir has been performing for over 25 years, and they are well-known around the country for their rich harmonies and impressive vocal abilities.
While the Songs of Sister Act makes its way across the UK, a new musical version of Sister Act is preparing to take to the West End stage in London this month. The production features Patina Miller as Deloris (originally played by Goldberg) and Sheila Hancock as the Mother Superior, first portrayed in the 1992 film by Maggie Smith.
In addition, renowned composer Alan Mencken has composed an original score for the new West End Sister Act. In the past, Mencken has created music for Disney hits including Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and 2007's Enchanted.
