Wickerman festival reveals fancy dress theme
Scottish festival The Wickerman has revealed that the fancy dress theme for the music and attraction-fuelled event is kilts and camouflage.The festival, which will take place at East Kirkcarswell Farm in July, promises a plethora of events, headlined by musical appearances from top bands like The Magic Numbers, The Zutons, The Human League and Idlewild.
Amongst the fancy dress fans will also be a broad mix of comedy acts, Festival Golf and the chance to do some mountain biking across the location's perfect terrain. With the theme of kilts and camouflage, the Scottish air at the festival will also prevail - and aid the typically relaxed environment the festival promotes.
As the bash takes place on location where the original cult classic was filmed, the chances of seeing the odd Wicker Man-themed fancy dress costume are not unlikely, particularly given the film's own penchant for characters in fancy dress including Mr Punch and various animal ensembles.
Saturday night will also see the torching of a 30ft wicker man, a spectacle mirroring that from the film - though undoubtedly with less sacrificial gusto as the fictional version of the event.
Over the two day festival, families will be able to attend eight stages of music, a cinema and workshops. There will also be a children's area in place and a beer tent to ensure that all tastes are catered to.
The Wickerman Festival aims to provide a strictly non-commercial alternative to many of the UK's summer festivals and takes place on July 24-25.
